DISABILITY CLAIMS COORDINATOR

The City’s Corporate Services Department has an opportunity for an Occupational Health and Safety and Disability Claims Coordinator to join their Human Resources Team of professionals. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate–wide Occupational Health and Safety programs to ensure safety of the workforce and compliance with relevant legislation; Providing advice and guidance in the interpretation and application of all applicable legislation; Inspecting worksites, promoting safety awareness, and conducting safety training; Liaising with WorkSafe BC and coordinating the City’s disability and return to work program including case management and developing return to work plans.
This is a full-time, union-exempt position which includes a comprehensive benefit package and competitive salary range. 

Qualifications include:
• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• CSRP and CRTWC or CDMP Designations would be an asset
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
• Considerable experience in occupational health and safety and disability claims management in a unionized environment
• Thorough knowledge of BC Workers’ Compensation Act and Regulations, Federal Bill C-45, and Claims Management Strategies
• Sound knowledge of Human Resources functions, principles, statutory requirements and human rights issues.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, consultative, research, motivational, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills
• Good office computer skills
• Sound work ethics
